Snapchat, Uber, Deliveroo… Check out the list of the most stressful apps!

There are already all kinds of studies about the apps we use every day. Here's one that should get a lot of ink flowing: the work done by Higher Visibility reveals the top applications on the App Store that cause the most stress for their users. Passion Media explains.

Hey you!

The applications and social networks we use on a daily basis can sometimes have an impact on our mental and/or physical health. In this article, we were talking about the impact of Instagram on young users. And precisely on this point, a new study has just come out. The first of its kind. The goal? Identify the most stressful applications and point out the main reasons for these stresses. We share the results with you.

Snapchat, the most stressful application

According to the study, conducted by Higher Visibility, the social network application Snapchat would be by far the most stressful application. The methodology used? The experts simply analyzed all the comments on the App Store, classifying them according to the feelings evoked (neutral, positive, negative, etc. …). The result? More than 91% of the comments on the App Store about Snapchat were considered stressful (technical problems, dissatisfaction, lack of clarity, etc…).

Instagram, second app in this cursed ranking

Unsurprisingly, Instagram is not far behind Snapchat, as the app is ranked second. For this social network, 84% of comments would indeed echo stress and negative feedback (addictive, harmful, etc. …). And for good reason, we told you about it here, Instagram has often been criticized for its lack of action, especially regarding the moderation of content. Studies (even internal) have also shown the negative impact that the application could have for its users (lack of self-confidence, harassment, anorexia, etc. …).

Hulu, the most stressful streaming application

For those who do not know yet, Hulu is the video streaming application launched by The Walt Disney Company, 21st Century Fox, Comcast and WarnerMedia. It now has more than 40 million subscribers, but is not as good as applications like Netflix or Amazon Prime. The result? 86% of the reviews left about it are negative.

Delivery apps, the worst of the ranking

Beyond social networks and messaging applications, it is the delivery-related applications that are the most criticized. Postmates, Uber Eats, DoorDash… They all have between 90 and 94% of critical and negative reviews. The reason? It is not precisely explained but the tracks are numerous (bugs, payment problems, delivery times, etc. …).

Youtube stands out as the least stressful application

Fortunately, there are also applications that stand out in a positive way. Less negative comments, more satisfied feedback. This is the case of Youtube with only 22% of mixed opinions (the latter mostly concerning advertising). On the messaging applications side, Skype also stands out with only 20% of reviews mentioning stress or mixed feedback. However, this is still a large share of users with negative feedback. In other words? There is a long way to go to offer perfectly efficient and healthy applications for users.
