Launched in 2019, Mym now already has over 8 million subscribers. So what’s the difference with other social networks? It’s very simple. The strategy of this social network (often presented as a “private fan club”) is based 100% on the opportunity offered to all content creators to generate recurring revenue, in complete independence, by publishing exclusive content for their fans who access it by paying a subscription to their favorite creator… More concretely, Mym allows them to offer exclusive content to their subscribers, in the form of paid subscriptions. A concept driven by a female target

Mym (for Me.You.More) was created by Pierre Garonnaire and Gaspard Hafner, two childhood friends from the Loire region. After having each evolved on their own, they meet in 2018 in Lyon and the idea germinates around an unpretentious conversation. A model friend, then followed by more than 50,000 people, then tells them that despite the large volume of her community, she fails to capitalize on this point and generate income. A pain point, as they say in the startup world, that these two friends will take to heart to solve. They quickly came up with a solution: a private fan club to convert a free community into paying subscribers (and thus into regular income for the content creator).

A unique formula: paid subscription

They tested this idea and set it up in a few weeks. Very quickly, a community of models, influencers and reality TV stars took the plunge and joined the platform. Each content creator proposes a subscription system, with a price defined by them, and exclusive content dedicated to their subscribers. They then receive between 75 and 80% of this income. The rest is collected by Mym in order to continue developing and optimizing its tool. And it’s a success! Some manage to generate an income of up to €150,000 per month.

Exclusive and qualitative content

This website is a new wind of freedom and opportunities for content creators. They can then develop their contents serenely, while perpetuating their activity. And it’s a winning bet! The content found on the platform is varied, qualitative and highly targeted. Mym’s commitment to a safe and secure platform 

Since the creation of MYM, its founders (both fathers) have made a point of defining commitments to build the safest and most secure platform among pure players. Certification of accounts by MYM moderators, launch of an ethics committee, drafting of an ethics charter… Their goal? A beneficial tool for content creators, with a healthy, legal and secure exchange framework. In this logic, this famous committee is 100% independent and has the role of moderating the contents, checking the information delivered by the creators, certifying the accounts, protecting the minors… And they are watching over the grain! 

The 3 key measures to make Mym an ethical site

  • Creators’ profiles are validated and certified by MYM moderators, who follow a strict protocol (verification of identity, media, confirmation of phone number, security selfie, bank account…)
  • The sharing of personal information is prohibited. It works a bit like exchanging phone or email on Airbnb messages (blurred or blocked). To go further, any hint or proposal of meeting from the creator leads to immediate suspension of the account.
  • Malicious users are blocked and banned. The latter are identified according to a list of keywords defined within the algorithm of the application. 

Numbers that would make Silicon Valley pale in comparison

The French startup has nothing to be ashamed of when compared to the behemoths Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, or OnlyFans or TikTok (to name the latest). Mym has generated more than 3 million euros in revenue in 2019, 30 million in 2020. And the growth continues! The platform estimates that it will reach 60 million by the end of 2021. 

New features eagerly awaited

To continue this momentum, Mym already has some great projects in the pipeline. The platform has planned to launch a key content in 2022: paid lives (concerts, dance, etc. …). This change should allow them to expand the audience and reach many artists (still quite discreet on the platform).
