McFly and Carlito cross the Mediterranean by canoe

Challenged by Michou and Inoxtaf, the Youtubers McFly and Carlito have recently taken up a challenge worthy of the greatest adventurers: crossing the Mediterranean Sea between Cannes and Calvi, that is to say more than 190 km, in autonomy on a canoe. Back on this journey.

Hello You,

Here’s a recipe that works: youtubers, a sports challenge, great partnerships, adventure, live content. Passion Media comes back with you on a news that made Youtube quiver this summer. The youtubers McFly and Carlito took up the challenge of crossing the Mediterranean Sea between the mainland and Calvi, on a boat, alone. In total, 190 km to cover, and a challenge followed by thousands of people live and on a website launched especially for the occasion.

A challenge launched by Michou and Inoxtaf

The two youtubers are known for the challenges they set themselves. They challenged President Macron to a contest of anecdotes, and were able to fly over Paris on board a plane of the Patrouille de France during the 14th of July. McFly and Carlito were recently challenged by Inoxtag and Michou, authors of “Youtube Warrior”, the confrontation show between youtubers. Challenge accepted, without much hesitation. Let’s go for a new adventure: La Traversée (made in partnership with the Redbull brand).

Code name of the challenge: La Traversée

The objective of the challenge? To reach Corsica, from Marseille, on board Emmanuel Coindre’s boat (an adventurer who has crossed the Atlantic Ocean alone six times in a rowing boat) without assistance. And for the occasion, the two acolytes had to prepare themselves a few months in advance. They trained diligently and followed the advice of Emmanuel Coindre and Patrick Favre, two experienced sailors.

A big challenge and more than 190 km to cover

The Youtubers had to cover more than 190 kilometers between the coast of France (with a departure near Cannes), and Corsica (arrival in Calvi). On average, they advanced at a speed between 2 and 2.5 knots per hour (about 4 km/h). In total, it took them more than 2 days, 17 hours and 30 minutes to get there. A great success!

A fund for the benefit of sea rescuers

And to go further, the two youtubers took advantage of this event to launch a fund on Leetchi for the benefit of the Sauveteurs en Mer. To date, 468 people have participated for a total of more than 6000€ collected. Want to contribute too? Good news! The kitty is still open until the end of October. See you here.
